Luxury Travel Group (LTG) is a private-equity backed luxury travel business that provides a wide range of tailor made and single centre luxury holidays along with a portfolio of high-touch children’s club “operated” products.  Inflexion Private Equity Partners LLP backed an MBO from the founding shareholders in December 2014.

The business offers telephone-based holiday booking services 24/7 through its UK, USA and Asia service centres with 7 offices in 5 countries and c.300 permanent office-based staff.  Further seasonal staff work in resorts where the group itself acts as the holiday “operator”.

The Scott Dunn brand operates in the UK, US and Asia outbound markets and has won the coveted Conde Nast Travellers award for Best Specialist Tour Operator for the past 5 years.  The group also operates a secondary brand, Imagine Travel, focused on the UK outbound market, with specialism in African safaris.

LTG has a Total Transaction Value of c.£140M and generates c.£8M of ebitda, with future growth planned in each of its geographic markets.

Main Responsibilities

Operate as the Group Financial Accountant for the Luxury Travel Group, accountable for all group financial accounting, taxation and reporting

  • Year End External reporting
    • Responsibility for year-end audit process
    • Management of relationships with group’s external auditors
    • Manage requests from external auditors
    • Accountability for delivering all annual statutory accounts
  • Internal Control framework
    • Maintenance of robust system of internal financial controls
    • High quality balance sheet control framework with regular account reconciliations including Bank Accounts and I/Company matrix
  • Bank reporting & treasury
    • External debt compliance reporting, including preparation of covenant certificates
    • Maintenance of revolving credit facilities including utilisation requests and loan roll-over instructions to the banks
    • Maintain short-term (13 week) cashflow forecast reporting
  • Group taxation matters
    • Responsible for UK tax packs and compliance with tax filings in all relevant jurisdictions
    • Refresh group tax transfer pricing framework for new, international legal entities with advisers
    • Includes industry specific tax regulation TOMS and interaction with HMRC in UK
  • Regulatory reporting
    • Oversight of Monthly & Quarterly regulatory returns
    • Compliance with UK regulatory regime (CAA / ATOL / ABTOT) and overall responsibility for annual licensing process
  • Other responsibilities
    • Company Secretariat tasks including management of share capital and EBT
    • Cover and deputise for Group Controller, as required
    • Approval of payment runs

Candidate requirements

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Organised and efficient
  • Background in B2C / service-based businesses, experience of working in a fast-paced consumer environment
  • International business experience, within a multi-site operating environment
  • Experience in the travel industry is not essential
  • Natural enthusiasm and passion for financial accounting
  • Able to implement new ideas and drive continual process improvements
  • A proven team-player
  • Strong communication skills
