Our Cook Hosts are an extremely important part of the service that Scott Dunn offer and this is a great opportunity to run your own small chalet and create tasty, well presented menus in your own kitchen. A fantastic role for those interested in food, have completed a cookery course and have the enthusiasm to develop these culinary skills.

Main responsibilities

  • Look after our guests to the highest standard possible and ensure they benefit from the Scott Dunn service in chalets of up to 8 people
  • Serve tea and coffee in bed
  • Prepare and serve continental/cooked breakfast as well as dishes from the breakfast specials menu (6 days per week)
  • Bake a fresh cake for afternoon tea (6 days per week)
  • Prepare and serve children’s dinner if and when appropriate
  • Prepare and serve canapés and a three course dinner with cheese in an open plan kitchen environment (6 days per week)
  • All the food and domestic product shopping for your chalet
  • Ensure that your chalet and kitchen is always clean and tidy – this means a daily routine for the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and all living areas
  • Take responsibility for budgets and present accounts to the resort manager on a weekly basis
  • Resort knowledge – recommend local restaurants, places of interest and activities/amenities
  • Work in other chalets/resorts if/when requested to do so

Essential requirements

  • Experience of cooking good quality food for small numbers
  • A minimum of two week Cookery school course training (or NVQ equivalent)
  • Genuine interest in food and cookery
  • Attendance at a two week cookery training assessment in September (prior to the winter season)
  • Available for the whole season – November until the end of April
  • A UK/EU passport

Desirable attributes

  • Full clean driving license
  • Previous experience in hospitality, waiting and/or housekeeping
  • Work experience in ski chalets, private houses, villas, shooting lodges, yachts, barges, events, or private catering companies
  • Second language – French or German
